Here's an example.
Your mobile phone company has messed up your bills.
You ring the customer help line.
You wait and wait.
People are transferring you here, there, and everywhere.
You tell your story a million times and nobody does anything to help you.
You go round in circles.
At some point, the line goes dead and you have to start all over again ...
Later that week, the same billing problem is sent to you as though nothing had ever happened, AGAIN ...
Sounds familiar?
Want to poke out your own eyes with a cocktail stick?
Want to join a revolutionary group who plants bombs in the offices of mobile phone companies?
Stop, my friend! There's another way.
There is the The Alex Model Of Dealing With The Crap Modern Business Throws At Us.
And here is how it works.
The first step is to sit down and think about exactly what you want to have happen.
In the above example, you might want the right phone bill instead of the wrong one.
Write this down on a piece of paper that you keep close to you at all times, because unlike our original Alex, upon which this model is based, you might at first not be able to hold a state of utter determination to get THAT and EXACTLY THAT done - EVENTUALLY.
The next thing you need to know is that there is A PROCESS that will lead to you getting done EXACTLY what you want done - IN THE END.
Do not lose faith in that - it is true. There really is a process.
This process may NOT be easy. It may not be logical. It may not be fast. It may have many, many steps. And it may not be pleasant, but none of that matters, for as long as the process exists, and it does, you will get done EXACTLY what you want done - IN THE END.
What happens is that people get angry, or they give up.
Indeed, many companies rely on that you do and won't put up a fight to get done EXACTLY what you want done - IN THE END.
They make it deliberately difficult to discover the process that really exists and that will lead you to getting done EXACTLY what you want done - IN THE END.
But in this model, you don't care.
You simply take one step after the other, exactly as they say you should, and you repeat this as many times as you need to in order to get done EXACTLY what you want done - IN THE END.
It is really important to understand that this process might involve many calls, many attempts, all manner of things, such as writing letters, or possibly hiring a lawyer or entering an arbitration PROCESS.
Do NOT be afraid of this.
Do NOT get angry.
Do NOT let this discourage you in any way.
Do NOT give up at any stage.
Under no circumstances, expect justice, logic, or good customer services. They have no part in these kinds of processes.
Simply keep on going - like a form of customer terminator, someone who can't be reasoned with, someone who cannot be argued with and someone who ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT STOP UNTIL THEY GET DONE EXACTLY what you want done - IN THE END.
In fact, to make the Alex Model perfect, you should experience a sense of joy and strength in your own relentlessness.
Document every step of the way.
Write down who you have already called, who you have talked to, and what they said.
TIME how long you spent on the phone so you can present them with a bill of your own in the end. Make a note of every postage stamp, every moment spent on dealing with this, just like an attorney bills their client.
DATE everything to the minute (that really scares them!).
TAKE THE NAMES of the people you have talked to, and their job titles.
Write down EVERYTHING to document what has happened.
Turn it into a kind of hobby, like hunting pigs in the forest, or collecting little minature bottles.
If Jane Smith from accounting says to ring this number, ring this number. Tell them that Jane Smith from accounting said that you should ring this number. If they can't help you, ask them for THE NEXT STEP.
And that's the most important thing - this is a process and there is ALWAYS A NEXT STEP.
Simply go from step to step, over and over again if necessary, in a completely neutral, terminator style fashion.
If you should EVER get wound up along the way, use EFT or EmoTrance to release the negative emotions so you may return to the terminator state who will not give up until they got done EXACTLY what you want done - IN THE END.
And I guarantee you, following this model, you will get your outcome, with a minimum of hassle.
So here is the The Alex Model Of Dealing With The Crap Modern Business Throws At Us one more time step by step.
1. Instead of seeking justice, enter into the process with clear volition of your outcome.
2. Take step by step all the requisite actions that you are advised to take.
3. Document every step of the way.
4. Keep going through the process until you get your outcome.
And it's as simple as that.
This model has so far resulted in people getting a deposit back from a landlord who NEVER gives ANYONE their deposit back; compensation for a car that was damaged in a car wash; endless examples of bills and payments corrected with all manner of companies around the globe; re-setting and cleaning personal financial histories, getting doctors and hospitals to take the right action, solving tax problems and much, much more besides.
Instead of stress, there is a sense of achievement which can turn into fun as the terminator approach to receiving all the customer care the law provides for you is putting the other side on the run for a change.
Most of all, this model takes the fear of dealing with systems and processes out of the equation - and makes life more interesting, easier, and much more straightforward.
Next time, you get some modern business crap coming your way, try it.
Most empowering!
