As the original version of Project Sanctuary, much of which is retained in this 3rd revised edition, was written in 1996, the hypnotic, NLP and General Semantics patterns are still somewhat easier to discern as in later works by Dr Silvia Hartmann and may suit beginners in the study of NLP language particularly well. This is an interesting work for students of hypnosis, hypnotic languaging and NLP because it is very concise and the correlations between the 7 stages, the metaphors employed, and the sequence and order of internal representations is deliberately laid bare by the author, for those to see and learn from, and as a primary bonus and gift to others who enjoy NLP.

Transmission of information by story and CHANGE BY STORY is one of Dr Hartmann's particular areas of expertise.

Very elegant in its delivery, Dr Hartmann deliberately retained markers in the text to allow students of NLP and hypnotic language, as well as traditional story telling, to recognise certain patterns when they occur, and to encourage NLP language students in particular to stretch their abilities and pick up new and different language devices, forms and innovative ideas.
The Golden Horse and the other stories in this story-ring are classic fairy tales with a difference - these are fairy tales specifically designed to undo the damage that the old folk and fairy tales have done to beliefs, values and attitudes relating to a person's individual power over their life, including creating antidotes to societal role model entrainments, and unhelpful archetypes.
Each separate story in the classic fairy tale format goes straight to those stratas that are ruled by this type of story, and where the oldest entrainments, fears and confusions exist, which can NOT be touched by any other form of de-conditioning, and have to be addressed "in their own country, on their own terms".
There, the new stories inject new data into those old systems, as well as evolutionary seeds and bridges, to allow new data to come in from the environment so that the "inner fairy tale realms" can start to evolve in conjunction with the real life experiences of a single human being at last again.
The new stories also take on faulty beliefs, values and attitudes, to evolve these if possible, and take them out altogether where this is not possible.
These are high end metaphor stories which are extremely complex and multi-layered; the stories are effective remedies against old entrainments but reveal their true complexity only to advanced students of NLP language, hypnotic language, metaphor, and advanced story telling.
